This page describes how the product works today. It is not a substitute for advice from a lawyer, and we will revise it as the product grows. If a sentence here disagrees with what the app actually does, the app is the one that is true — write to us and we will fix the page.
What we collect from you
When you sign up we store the business name, your name, your email, your cell number, your carrier and the timezone your browser reports. The cell number is how you sign in: we text a one-time link to it. We do not use a password.
We buy a second phone number in your area code and keep the record of that number against your account, so missed calls can land on the receptionist.
What we collect from callers
A call that reaches the receptionist is recorded. We keep the recording URL, the transcript, the caller's number, and whatever the receptionist captured: name, a callback number, the service address, what is wrong, and whether they said it cannot wait.
We do not host the audio file ourselves. The recording URL points at the voice provider (Vapi). We store that URL so you can listen from the dashboard and from the lead text.
Why
Your details run the account: buying the number, texting you the forwarding code, signing you in, and sending you leads. Caller details are the product. A lead without a name, a callback number and the problem is not a lead we charge for, but we still keep the call so you can hear what happened.
Who else sees it
Twilio provides the phone number and sends the texts. Vapi runs the receptionist and holds the recordings. We store account and call records in MongoDB. We do not sell caller lists, and we do not use your customers for our own marketing.
A sign-in cookie lives in your browser. It is a random id, stored only as a fingerprint on our side, so a copy of the database is not a copy of a working login.
How long, and how to leave
Sign-in links expire in minutes and can be used once. Sessions expire on a timer. Call records stay for as long as the account does, because the dashboard is the log of what came in.
There is no delete button in the dashboard yet. Write to hello@plumbercallsaver.com from the email on the account, or text us from the cell we already text, and ask us to remove it. We will delete the account, the calls, and the number we bought for you.
Recording notice
Some US states require you to tell a caller they are being recorded. The receptionist answers with your business name. It does not currently announce that the call is recorded. If your state needs that notice, you are the one who has to give it — on the van, on the voicemail you still have, or by asking us to add a line to the greeting. Do not treat this page as that notice.
Children
This is a tool for plumbing businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and we do not intend the receptionist for children's phones.
